‘Achieving positive health impacts through Social Marketing?’

The Collaborating for Better Care Partnership held its final Master Class on 1st March 2016, at The Core in Newcastle. This Master Class, ‘Achieving positive health impacts through social marketing’, focused on social marketing as an approach to behaviour change that is increasingly being used to achieve positive impacts on the behaviour of individuals and groups, in order to help sustain positive health impacts over time.

The morning plenary was led by experts, Professor Gerard Hastings from the Institute of Social Marketing at the University of Stirling and Dr Marisa De Andrade from the University of Edinburgh. This was followed in the afternoon by case study presentations from Allison Farnworth NIHR Fellow and Senior Research midwife at Newcastle University on Induced labour; and, Claire Troughton, Social Marketing Manager (North) from Public Health England who presented a case study on the ‘smart sugars’ campaign. This was followed by workshop sessions.
